In part 2 of our fundamental link building series we examine proper directory submissions, plus forum and blog participation. When done properly, these techniques can lead to a wealth of one-way backlinks, but when done poorly, will have you looking like a spammer.

I particularly think commenting on relevant blog articles and interacting with "communities" is great however as you say it takes time and you need to \'know what you are talking about\'.
